Adult Climbing Courses

ROCK CLIMBING FOR ADULTS

At Evolution its really easy to start climbing, as a bouldering centre we are very friendly - no experience or special skills or equipment are required. The centre has very thick matting for protection, so climbers have the freedom to climb where they like without the restriction of ropes.

The main bouldering area has over 60 set problems that are changed weekly so the climbing is never quite the same on subsequent visits, this means no matter how often you visit the climbing will never be same.

Adults can climb at any time the centre is open but must be aware that weekends before 12pm is really kids time.

Adults £9 Non Member - Unlimited time

To get the most out of your visit, why not book an instructor and have an hour or two of tuition in the roped climbing area? You can then stay on in the bouldering area for as long as you like afterwards.

£35 per Hour(+ normal entrance fee) - Maximum 2 Students

Extra Students £10 Each

Adult Climbing Courses

We offer several different types of courses for adults, from taster sessions, to adult induction, and our ever popular outdoor climbing on real rock. The courses are aimed at every level of climber both male and female, and there is no upper age restriction.

Indoor Induction Courses

These courses are designed as a launching point into your indoor rock climbing. The courses cover all you need to learn to be able to use all the facilities at the indoor climbing centre alone or with other experienced rock climbers.

Demonstration of a Problem

Taught by our highly experienced and qualified climbing instructors this climbing course will guide you through all the basics of rock climbing - equipment, moving on rock, belaying, knots and basic safety. On completion you will have the knowledge required to be able to use the whole of the indoor climbing centre. All rock climbing equipment is provided

The course takes place on the last Saturday of the month.

Adult Taster Climbing Session

For climbers not sure if they want to commit to the full Induction course or just want to try climbing, these courses can arranged at times to suit you. Your instructor will take you through the basics and get you using all areas of the climbing wall. The instructor will work to your individual ability.

Introduction to Sandstone Climbing

1-Day introduction to climbing on real rock

On the Last Sunday of each month we run an introduction to outdoor climbing course at Harrison's Rocks, Groombridge. The course runs from 10am to 4pm and goes through everything you need to know to climb safely on Southern Sandstone. The day is split into two sessions with the morning session covering basic skills including belaying and the afternoon moving on to more advanced techniques including setting up rope systems.

ROAD TRIPS

These trips are aimed at people relatively new to climbing, Each trip will be run by a very experienced fully qualified instructor, who will transport you to a quality climbing/walking location, destinations for these trips will largely be dictated by customer choice - possibly a long desired ascent of a classic route or an introduction to a new area. We are totally flexible and destinations can even be decided at the last minute to ensure the best possible weather for the duration of the trip. Group sizes are small (6 Maximum) and each day the instructor and group will decide, based on group ability, an appropriate crag to visit for the day or you have the freedom to go off on your own and climb or walk. The instructor will be on hand to give free advice and will be available for personal tuition at an extra charge. The Instructor will have all the appropriate guides to the area so no extra expense is required and searching for the best crags or routes once there will all be done for you - this really is the best way to get into real climbing. Each evening the bus will even take you to a local pub and deliver you back to your tent door.

Accommodation will generally be camping as this is easy to arrange at short notice but individuals are free to arrange their own accommodation and the bus will pick you up and drop you off provided you are not too far away!

So if you want to broaden your horizons and start to explore the fantastic climbing the UK has to offer then these trips are for you.

The Bus leaves Evolution Indoor Climbing after work on Friday evening and returns on Sunday Evening.

We ran some great trips last year the foreign trips being the highlights. This year we thought we would aim on doing some classic climbs in the UK, so if you have a climb you would really like to do then let us know and we will do our best to make your dream come true.

Requests so far - Old Man Of Hoy, Old Man of Stoer, Vector and Dream of White Horses. Lundy. We are currently planning the best times to run these trips.

Prices are travel only and do not include accommodation or food.

The long weekend in Fontainebleau is specifically aimed at climbers new to this area, your leader will take you too all the best Bouldering areas in the forest

Personal Tuition available at £20 per hour all equipment supplied.
