1)      BOULDERING – The majority of the centre is dedicated to Bouldering during our public opening hours, however during school hours this area can also be used for roped climbing. Bouldering for climbers is, in its purest form about attempting to create problems by linking together the hardest possible moves, sometimes these problems consist of a couple of moves. For most other people it’s just about the freedom of climbing without the hassle of equipment. For groups we use our extensive Bouldering area for both fun and for specific training and coaching sessions. Students using this area do not require any previous experience and Bouldering sessions can be safely supervised by competent adults.

2)     ROPED CLIMBING – this area was designed with teaching in mind. The area is separate from the Bouldering area so groups are not disturbed or distracted by other climbers in the centre. The range of climbs in this area goes from confidence building slabs to very technical challenging overhanging routes. Sessions usually start with students learning how to move on the faces and then move on to the more technical side using ropes, tying knots and belaying. Students can gain a lot more than just doing the activity from these sessions they involve a lot of teamwork, trust, communication skills and discipline. This area can be used by suitably qualified staff (S.P.A) as a self supervised session – ropes are supplied and Harness and belay plates can be rented from us if you don’t have your own. If required Evolution’s own Instructors can also be supplied. Groups attending for regular sessions can work towards our level 1 & 2 awards.

3)     ABSEILING – Our abseil tower is also situated within the tuition area, students can learn to abseil in a non-threatening environment.

4)      WOODY ROOM – This room is purely for the dedicated hard climber. The steeply overhanging surfaces mean climbers can train in total safety just a couple of feet off the floor. In 2007 this area underwent an extensive overhaul and is now a top class facility.

We also have a small classroom with attached kitchen that has a multitude of uses.
